FUNCONTACT GOT NEW SUIT
New stylish black skin for businessmen

June 27, 2008 - VITO Technology releases a new version of FunContact - the best selling contact manager that provides the most exciting and convenient contact management on Windows Mobile touch screen devices. You can do everything with a flick of a finger!
http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/1b.gif http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/1w.gif
FunContact 2.15 presents two major new features: a new black skin like in the recently released ZoomBoard and SMS-Chat, and also joystick support. The black skin fits perfectly brand-new Windows Mobile devices hitting the market like HTC Diamond, TyTN II, Touch Pro and all other devices from Touch series as they all have dim color theme.
http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/3b.gif http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/3w.gif
The original "fun" skin is still available and allows even serious businessmen to take their ease on vacation and relax. After all your wife is not going to believe you are actually updating your contacts or looking thru the call history even if she notices the sliding screens with exciting animation and bright colors. She might want to have a play with it though, so beware.
http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/4b.gif http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/4w.gif
Joystick support has been the outcry from our customers since FunContact was released. New FunContact gives you the choice: you can scroll the list with a finger or with a joystick. Both variants are very convenient, and though the main idea of FunContact is to manage contacts with finger, some FunContact users addicted to joystick now can also benefit by performing all the basic operations in FunContact like calling, texting ,etc. with joystick.
http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/2b.gif http://vitotechnology.com/images/funcontact/2w.gif
FunContact is available for $19.95 at http://iwindowsmobile.com/contact-manager.html. FunContact supports English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Norwegian, Danish, Portuguese, Greek, Polish, Chinese, Japanese, and Russian.

VITO Technology Inc. is known for its high-tech products in the field of Windows Mobile and Symbian software, GPS navigation and custom projects. Introduced in this press-release FunContact is a finger-friendly contact manager for Windows Mobile touch screen devices.

I would like to introduce you to Navizon:
http://www.navizon.com

Navizon is a wireless positioning system that works a little bit like a GPS, only that it uses Cellular Towers and Wifi access points instead of satellites. In addition to being a wireless position system, Navizon offers cool features like the Directions, Buddy finder, Geotags and many more...

This software relies on a community of users who contribute data to the system (WiFi and Cellular towers) when they have a GPS device. And the cool thing is that we can earn money doing it with the Navizon reward system:
http://www.navizon.com/navizon_rewards.asp
I'm already using it and you could make money too with it if you're interested. All you need is to install it on your phone and have Navizon connected to your GPS. Every Wifi access point that you pass, every cell tower that you log will mean money in your pocket. So if you have a phone that is compatible with this software, you should really check it out.

If you plan on registering, please do so by clicking on the link below:
http://my.navizon.com/Webapps/UserAdmin/register.aspx?referral_code=5D5659575E5F
That way, I can also earn some referral points since I'm the one who introduced you to the system Wink The referral points are in addition to whatever you earn - you don't lose anything by using this referral link.

Spb Software House Releases Spb Mobile DVD for Smartphone - a Fast and Handy Video Converter

May 8th, 2007 - Spb Software House, the leading Windows Mobile software developer, releases the Smartphone version of Spb Mobile DVD - a desktop application that provides a simple way to convert DVDs and video files to mobile format optimized for watching on Windows Mobile Smartphone devices. Spb Mobile DVD has already gained a reputation among Pocket PC users being one of the best selling multimedia programs thanks to the fastest possible conversion speed and the true real-time preview feature.

The screen of the landscape Smartphone-like Motorola Q, Samsung BlackJack and T-Mobile Dash is great for watching videos. And with a typical 1-2 gigabyte storage card a user can take 5-10 of his favorite movies for watching in a trip. All that makes landscape Smartphones almost a perfect platform for watching videos. That is why Spb Mobile DVD is one of the first applications Spb Software House has chosen to port from Pocket PC to the Windows Mobile Smartphone platform.

http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/about/pressreleases/images/spbmobiledvd_smartphone.jpg

Due to filesize and bit rate limitations it is impossible to directly copy a video file from a PC or laptop to a Smartphone . Video files must be converted and compressed to a smaller size, but the smaller the file size, the poorer the video quality. It's up to user to find a compromise between the file size and video quality. No computer can ever make this decision. If the size/quality settings were wrong, it may happen that the conversion video quality is unacceptable and the whole conversion procedure must be repeated. This "what-if method" can be very annoying. To avoid such problems Spb Mobile DVD offers a unique true real-time preview feature, which allows to see the result even before the conversion starts.

Spb Mobile DVD is optimized for the fastest conversion speeds on one core, hyperthreading and dual core processors. On a new PC it is possible to convert a 2 hour long DVD film in about 20 minutes! Factors which affect conversion include the CPU, DVD player, output video settings, video quality and zooming mode.

The key features of Spb Mobile DVD include:

Fastest conversion speed - Convert 2 hour DVD movies in as fast as 20 minutes. Spb Mobile DVD is specially optimized to work with one core, hyperthreading and dual core processors.

Real-time preview - See the expected result, before the conversion starts! See it in "what you see is what you get" format, as it will be seen on your mobile device. This is invaluable helping to decide end video quality versus file size.

Variety of options - Convert both DVD discs and video files, choosing language and subtitles mode from a DVD menu. Convert part of the movie, changing zoom and crop modes for best viewing on a mobile device with any screen resolution. Optimize bit rate for slower Pocket PCs. With both background conversion, and WMV/XVID format support, Spb Mobile DVD is an application for everybody's needs.

Easy-to-use interface - Spb Mobile DVD is designed with an intuitive window interface, using wizards which make even a beginner use the software like a pro. With an Auto-play feature and the ability to upload converted movies to a Pocket PC automatically, the entire conversion process is now painless and fast. Plus there is no need to install any software to the mobile device.

System Requirements
Spb Mobile DVD is compatible with Windows 2000, Windows XP and Windows Vista. In order to perform conversion of DVD discs, a DVD drive along with up-to-date drivers and software is required.

Pricing and Availability
Spb Mobile DVD is currently available in English, French, Italian, Spanish, Portuguese, Russian, Czech, Polish, Traditional Chinese and Simplified Chinese languages. A free 15-day trial, or the full version of Spb Mobile DVD for 24.95 USD, are available at Spb Software House website.

I have reposted this due to site problems - apologies to Astraware.

Moonfighter is a classic style shoot up game which Astraware has succesfully ported to the Pocket PC and Palm.

However, one small problem. I have tested this on both the Orange SPV M2000 and the M5000. Although the game runs well on the M5000, the key combinations used for the various controls needed are impossible to use on the M5000. I would suggest remapping these controls to various buttons used on the outside of the case, as the game can only be used in portrait mode. Similarly, with the M2000, you need to remap the keys to avoid having to use the keyboard.

When starting the game, you are met with the following screen:

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/moonfighter_screenshot_320x240_01.gif

The screenshot does not do the title screen justice. This is very well amimated, with the ship and planet rotating, and the background scrolling. Very impressive use of graphics and it will really show your PPC off.

I would suggest starting the game by running the Moon Academy. This takes you through several training missions. I would recommend this, as this is not a game that you can just jump into and do well. The training missions take you through 8 small missions, each designed to take you through the various controls and the type of enemies you will meet.

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/moonfighter_screenshot_320x240_02.gif

The object of the game is to manouver a small rocket using some basic controls (left, right, and thrust). You have a weapon, the object is to destroy your enemies. You will be fired at by these enemies, and you need to use your skills to ensure you can both manouver against:

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/moonfighter_screenshot_320x240_06.gif

and destroy your enemies:

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/moonfighter_screenshot_320x240_04.gif

When you have gone through each of the missions and passed the final exam, you can then progress to the Moonblaster missions, where you can play at any level of difficulty ranging from Cadet to Ace. You don't have to do the training missions to get to this stage, however it is recommended.

Infinite moons is the next option on the main menu. This generates a random game, or you can enter a mission code to recall your favourite game. It would appear that there are 999,999 different missions, but I can safely say I've not tried them all! With this variety, you can be sure you're not going to get bored of the same games all the time!

I've been playing this game for a couple of weeks, and it's one to get out when you want to relieve some stress. The game can be very frustrating at times, especially when you are on a harder level, but it's one where you've got to keep trying to get the better of it.

Moonfighter is available from Astraware for $19.95 from the following location. You can also download a playable trial from there:

I have reposted this due to recent site problems - apologies to Astraware.

I have tested this game on both an SPV M2000 and an SPV M5000. The game works well on both devices, however please bear in mind that the M5000 (along with other Portrait/Landscape devices) needs to be in Portrait mode for it to make full use of the screen.

This game is in a similar vein to a couple of other Astraware titles, such as Bejewelled. As with many Astraware games, the game is bright, colourful and the gameplay is excellent.

When you start the game, you are greeted with the following screen:

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/chuzzle_screenshot_240x320_01.jpg

Upon tapping the screen, the main menu displays:

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/chuzzle_screenshot_240x320_02.jpg

As you can see, there are 4 games, each a completely different game. The basic idea is to tap and drag a row or column of Chuzzles to make groups of three or more. Occasionally, you will be prevented from doing this by the presence of a large Chuzzle the size of 4 regular Chuzzles.

The score depends on how many Chuzzles you are able to match at any one time. It is possible in a move to match more than one set, and bonuses are awarded for multiple matches or several of the same colour.

Giant Chuzzles, Super Chuzzles and Rainbow Chuzzles all carry their own special effects and bonuses.

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/chuzzle_screenshot_240x320_03.jpg

The speed Chuzzle game works on the same principle. However, in this game you have a time limit to make each move. If you don't make a move in this time, a random Chuzzle gets locked in position.

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/chuzzle_screenshot_240x320_05.jpg

In the mind bender game, the gameplay changes. No longer do you have to match 3 Chuzzles, you now have to match the pattern displayed in the top left of the screen. The puzzles get harder to match as the game progresses.

http://www.pdaforum.net/images/screen/chuzzle_screenshot_240x320_04.jpg

Finally, you have the Zen Chuzzle game. This is an endless game, in which you match Chuzzles to earn magical charms.

This is a game in which you can easily lose yourself for an hour or two. Since getting hold of this game, it is one which I play a couple of times a week whilst waiting for a train or when I've got an hour to kill.

Chuzzle is available from Astraware for $19.95 from the following location. You can also download a playable trial from there:

http://www.astraware.com/all/chuzzle

Further to the news posted a few weeks ago regarding problems we have had with the site, we can now confirm we are back online completely.

I'm currently in the process of uploading missing content. By far the most important of these were the outstanding Astraware and Ilium reviews. I will upload these today, but I can only do these as new posts so they will be showing as today's date.

Also expected sometime today/tomorrow are reviews of SPB's line of products.

If you represent a company involved in PDA software and would like an honest review of your products, please get in touch.
